The town of Caimanera in Guantánamo has taken to the streets to demonstrate. With cries of “Homeland and life”, “Freedom” and “Long live human rights” hundreds of Guantanamo residents have launched themselves to demand their rights. Video, Panel Discussion & Vigil in Remembrance of Cuban Black Spring

The Free Cuba Foundation will be presenting The Cuban Spring a short documentary followed by a panel discussion and vigil about events surrounding the March 18, 2003 crackdown against Cuba’s independent journalists, civil society and democratic opposition that led to mass arrests, show trials and imprisonment of 75 Cubans all recognized by Amnesty International as prisoners of conscience and came to be known as The Black Cuban Spring.

The panel discussion had former Cuban prisoners of conscience Miguel Sigler Amaya, Pedro Pablo Ramos and Ambassador James Cason, the former head of the U.S Interests Section at the time of the March 18th, 2003 arrests.

Following the documentary and panel discussion there was a seven minute candlelight vigil.

Freedom March

Cuban exiles and pro-freedom activists held a protest march on February 23, 2023, starting at the White House and ending at the Cuban embassy, to demand freedom in communist Cuba, call for the expulsion of Cuba from the UN Human Rights Council, and in memory of those murdered by the Castro dictatorship.

In this video Pastor Mario Felix Lleonart Barroso ends the event with a prayer.
