Washington, D.C., May 23, 2023. Center for a Free Cuba. Death has taken Cuban filmmaker Leon Ichaso. He died leaving his wonderful film Bitter Sugar (1996) for the benefit of future generations, where he recounted the tragic lives of repression, hardship, and despair of Cubans under Marxism.

In another of his films, El Súper (1979), he masterfully exposes the difficulties faced by an exiled worker in New York.

From a young age and until his death, he opposed the dictatorship and despite his longing for the island, he died in exile without returning to pay homage to the tyrant, as some servile talents have done.

Rest in peace Leon Ichaso, filmmaker of great fame. Rest in peace good Cuban.
