Center for a Free Cuba expresses solidarity with Israel

Center for a Free Cuba. Israel is again being subjected to attack from Iran-sponsored elements in Gaza and the West Bank who are attempting to carry out Tehran’s aim of destroying the Jewish state.

Because the communist government of Cuba has consistently opposed Israel in international venues, sent thousands of troops to fight against Israel in the 1973 Yom Kippur War, sponsored and trained terrorists to attack Israeli civilians and continues to provide intelligence to Hamas and Hezbollah today, we feel compelled to assert our views at this critical point in the life of the only democracy in the Middle East.

Unlike the communist regime in Cuba, Israel protects the basic human rights of its citizens and those resident in its borders. The Center acknowledges and respects the right of any democracy to defend itself against outside attack and understands Israel’s decision to take action.  We deeply regret the loss of innocent life, which is always a byproduct of military action. As an organization opposed to the Iran-backed communist military dictatorship that has held Cuba in its iron grip for over 60 years, the Center for a Free Cuba expresses its total solidarity with the beleaguered Israeli people and calls on the U.S. government and other democracies to support the State of Israel at this time of peril.

The Center for a Free Cuba’s mission is to facilitate the development and protection of human rights in Cuba, under a regime that now does not permit its citizens free speech, protect human or property rights, or have free elections.
